1 YEAR!

It's finally here!  Jeriah is now 1 year old.
Still weighing 22 lbs, with 31 1/2" tall.  He is getting big for his age.
He is walking (waddles) pretty good all around the house, although he crawls from time to time to get places faster. He even likes to push chairs or other light furniture around as he walks.  He pulls open drawers on his own now and we've been trying to invent different ways to secure the ones that might be dangerous to him.  Since we are renting we didn't want to screw in the baby locks to the new cabinets so we have been using belts and paracord to tie them.  But the drawers we do let him open are plastics or other noise making things he can play with.  He would first pull everything out but now he likes to rearrange things.  He pulls something out of one drawer and puts it in another.  Or he will put his toys in random drawers.  So when I'm in the kitchen looking for things to use to cook I can't find certain pot or find his toys....  It's funny, sometimes...

He still hasn't said any words yet although he has tried, like "bababa" for banana and "papapa" for PAN which is bread in spanish.  He usually signs when he wants something or just wants to know what it is.  We were told that since we are introducing several languages to him that it might take awhile for him to start speaking.  But he does understand when we tell him things.

He loves playing with us, more like climbing on us or playing peek-a-boo or or even wrestiling with daddy.  He is such a boy!

He is finally sleeping through the night, thanks to the help of daddy.  It was a long few nights sleep training him but we did it!  So no more night feedings!  Yea!

(Sorry for waiting so long to update.  Was waiting on 1 year portraits to be ready.  This will be on the next post)

News Flash!
Andy and I are pregnant again with the second baby on the way. It was a whirlwind of emotions but we are getting excited now that Jeriah will have a sibling to play with.
More posts on this later maybe I will have to open a new blog for baby number two.

11 months

 11 Months

Jeriah is still 22 lbs about 30" tall.   He is getting longer and taller.  Soon he will no longer be our little baby.  He will be called a toddler after a month.
He still hasn't said any words, although sometimes it sounds like he tries to mimic what we say to him.  He does understand when we tell him words like "No", "Look", "Come/Lets Go", "Let's Eat", "Prayer", "All done", "Water/Milk", "Hello/Goodbye"... Of course we say these words in Spanish as well... And sometimes in Chinese if we have learned how to say it.  But we are still waiting on the Mama or Papa to be directed at us if he says it.
Since the end of last month he has started to walk with support from whatever he can hold on too but now he has let go!  Once in a while he will let go and stand without support!  He has even taken a step with out support!  But he won't do it if we tell him to.  He does it without notice.  (Which explains the difficulty of taking his picture when he does.)  But he prefers to crawl everywhere for now.  Which in itself is challenging for mommy and daddy. We can't imagine how it will be when he does start walking!  Watch out!

He is getting to be more clingy and likes to cuddle with us sometimes.  We relish those moments because they usually don't last very long.  He wants to stay active exploring and crawling around.  He is also very "vocal", either just enjoying the different sounds he makes, or when he laughs aloud, but also when he wants to be heard.  So throwing a tantrum is not accepted by us and we are trying to teach him that that is not how you get what you want. Instead we try to teach him to sign for it.  (For example: if he wants more food and starts yelling, we tell him "No, not like that", "Do you want more?" then we do the sign for MORE. He started getting it and would do that instead. Even though he would do a clap intead of the actual sign.  Good enough.)

We had family visit from Texas this month:  Andy's sister Lizzy, her husband and 5 year old daughter. Jeriah had a blast, especially with his cousin Olivia.  They got to see a lot of Washington and some of Oregon.  There is so much to see and do, but it was too cold and we couldn't do too much outdoor sightseeing.  Regardless, it is a beautiful place to see.

Jeriah got some presents from his Aunty Lizzy, one being chinese blocks.  It contains a picture of an object, the name of it in English, the Chinese Character and the pronouciation of it.  Andy and I love these and started playing with them too!  To go along with it we bought him a book called My First Words, with picutes and the English and Chinese word for it.  (These are all seen in the pictures below).  Speaking of which, we are officially in the Chinese Congregation!  We are loving it and can't wait until we get more fluent.  That would be funny if Jeriah's first word was in Chinese and we didn't even know it!

"Baby it's cold outside!"

He started raising his hand when he would see someone raise their hand at the meeting.

Starting to stand without support!

Side note: we no longer have Romeo. We decided it was time for a new family to care for him. Due to our simplifying our lives, we felt that we could not care for him like we once could.  It meant our time (which we have less of since we are  studying more and spending less time at home due to the Chinese congregation) and of course we couldn't afford him anymore either.  We miss him but know that he is with a loving family that cares for him as we did. We also felt that the sooner the better before Jeriah gets too attached.

 Goodbye Romeo...

10 Months

10 Months

Jeriah is now 22 lbs, 29 3/8" tall.
With 4 teeth on top and 4 on bottom, it was time to go to the dentist for the first time.  We are now brushing! (Well as much as Jeriah lets us).  He likes to try new foods and is not wanting to eat baby food as much.  He likes to self feed either by getting pieces of food with open palms like Cheerios, cooked veggies or grabbing the spoon to mouth. (Or more like cheek to mouth; or chin to mouth). Instead of a sippy cup we have transitioned him to a kids cup with a soft straw, only for water.  He is still breastfeed on other times of the day.

Another milestone is that Jeriah loves to clap along with songs and points at EVERYTHING.  He points as if he is wanting us to name what he is pointing.  We have taught him to point up when we ask him "Where is Jehovah?", or "¿Dónde está Jehova? in Spanish or "YÄ“héhuá?" in Chinese.  He is getting them all to our surprise. (At the meeting Jeriah would hear someone say Jehovah and he would point up.)
We have decided to "try" to teach him at least English and Spanish.  Then incorporate Chinese words as we learn them. We are finally moving to the Chinese congregation mid November!  Andy and I are picking up the words quicker than we thought.  We've already commented a couple of times at the Watchtower study and joined the group out in service. We are so excited to make this new move towards doing more in Jehovah's service!

"Where's Jehovah?"

Travled to TX to see family and friends.  He did pretty good on the flight.
He either slept or watched cartoons.
